Life coaching amplified: What I learned at my weekend with Tony Robbins

I recently had the privilege of attending the Unleash the Power Within seminar in Palm Beach, FL, lead by life coaching legend Tony Robbins. It was an intensive 4 days of trainings, transformations, and personal and professional breakthroughs. I have been coaching and training people for over a decade in making lasting changes, creating abundance in health, wealth, and happiness, and just when I think I can’t possibly have more breakthroughs, I am presented with information or a new perspective that has a radical impact on the way I live my life and interact with the world.  That’s one of the beautiful things about being a coach, I think.  I get to see what other people are dealing with and losing sleep over.  It always presents a new way of looking at things for me, and serves as a barometer for the different types of struggles people go through.  Interestingly enough though, as much as the details or circumstances my differ from person to person, at the end of the day, they can all be boiled down to the same difficulties and challenges faced among people all over the world.

On day one of this seminar a breakthrough occurred that changed everything. Here it is: Progress = Happiness. BOOM. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Because of the nature of my line of work, the focus is usually on setting goals, and attaining them. Don’t get me wrong, this is very important. We must know where we are going or trying to get to if we want to move towards anything. But in my laser focus on goal setting, I missed this really important piece. It’s the progress that brings the fulfillment. The journey along the way if you will. The goal is the end result. The progress is the day to day juice that feeds our soul, carries us to the next step, and provides that feeling of fulfillment. Reaching the goal provides accomplishment. Focus on the progress you are making, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant it may be – that is your “stop to smell the roses” moment along the road called happiness!

I urge you if you have never attended one of Tony’s events, check out the link here and go!
